We felt we had to write you this letter to let you know how pleased we are with our kitchen renovation. Before we decided to go with you we obtained quotes from other kitchen companies. They all seemed reluctant to re-design the layout of our kitchen which involved plumbing and electrical work etc.. It seemed that they were only interested in replacing the kitchen cabinets with only minor design changes and showed no interest in re-designing the whole configuration of our kitchen. Your approach was much more “custom”.

Your drawings really showed us what our kitchen would look like and as excited as we were to have our kitchen look like the drawings, it was amazing to see it turn out even better! The trim, beams and lighting on our ceiling really set off the details and it makes us realize that the other kitchen places could never have done that level of work. All of the people that work for you from the flooring crew, the plumber, drywaller and Ryan the painter were clean and courteous. Their work is fantastic. The fact that you completed all your work in just over a month, like you said, was appreciated and honestly, unexpected.

Dear Dave and Bob,

Greg and I wanted to express how pleased we are with our kitchen renovation. We look at the completed project now and our only wish is that we did this earlier.

Aesthectically, the kitchen is beautiful and provides exactly the look we were hoping for in an open concept set up. The cabinets and mouldings are of very good quality with every detail considered to make them both functional and pleasing to look at. We are so pleased with the removal of the wall and how it was finished...architectuarally it appears as if it was part of the original structure-not an afterthought. The functionality of the kitchen has improved substantially. Ergonomically, the kitchen now allows for multiple cooks in the kitchen, and is much more conducive to entertaining. The final finishes of the flooring, countertop and backsplash complete the look and we are so pleased with your suggestions on these items.

We had interviewed several contractors and looked at various options before choosing MDL Design. We found the process with other contractors to be confusing and at times discouraging, making us question whether we should even take on the renovation at all. I must say that the experience with MDL Design was nothing like this. From beginning to end your high level of professionalism and quality of work made us feel very confident in our decision to complete our kitchen renovation with you. You took ownership of the entire process and it is clear you take pride in the work you do. Your tradespeople were courteous and very tidy which allowed us to safely view the progress at the end of each day. Everything was clearly communicated to us and there were no surprises. You made it a priority that the renovation come in on time and on budget, while not compromising quality-and that it did.

Dear Dave, Bob and Carl

We would like to write a short letter of appreciation for the work you did in our home. We normally don't write these kinds of letters, but we both feel that three things made your company's work worthy of extra praise: professionalism, integrity and cleanliness.

You were all extremely professional. Every single person was polite, friendly and always ready to explain what he was doing. The quality of the work was also excellent, even to our somewhat untrained eyes. And, when we had a friend (who has experience in construction) over mid-way through the project, he was impressed with the highly professional quality of everyone's work, and commented that not many contractors do the "extra" that you did. Your ideas were also great.

We also really appreciated your integrity. Having been "burned" somewhat by the construction industry before, you'll remember that we were somewhat mistrusting of the whole process. But our regular meetings, with constant explanation of what was being done and why, really put our minds at ease. That Gus loved Carl so much also didn't hurt!

Finally, although we talked about renovating many times, the mess involved always put us off. The cleanup you and your crew did at the end of the day was above and beyond the call of duty (or maybe should be the standard, but something we've never seen before during construction).

Based on the quality of your work, we're sure you have plenty of references, but please feel free to add us to that list.

After working with several construction and renovation crews on both interior and exterior projects in the past, it goes without saying that the work performed at our home by MDL Designs (“MDL”) was one of the most positive experiences we’ve had to date with designers/ builders.

The scope of our project included multiple work crews tasking toward the common end of transforming our space. MDL came highly recommended to develop the concept and did not disappoint. Your team worked seamlessly to deliver a finished product with workmanship that was second to none. Dear Dave,

Jeannette and I want to thank you and your team for the outstanding work you did on our house. It is no exaggeration to say that we are absolutely thrilled with our new kitchen, bathrooms and deck. And while the outcome is spectacular, the process in getting there was just as good.

When we first brought you in, we had some general ideas about what we wanted but your ideas, insights and experience led us to the designs that were an ideal fit for our budget, vision and lifestyle. In particular, your suggestions regarding the kitchen design made a huge difference.

And contrary to the stories we had heard from people who had gone through their own renovations with different contractors, we were pleasantly surprised at how clean, efficient and careful your crews were when they worked in the house. We often came home at the end of the day to members of the crew sweeping, vacuuming and cleaning the work sites and the hallways. They were always careful to lay down protection on our floors and carpets and to use plastic draping to keep the dust down. They made the process tolerable.

We also appreciated the regular communications from everyone involved in the job: progress and billing meetings; notes, telephone calls, emails and voice mail messages to keep us informed of various developments; and pointing out different aspects of the work at the beginning and end of the day. And perhaps most importantly, you were quick to let us know when unexpected issues arose so there were no surprises.

While the process was important, it is the final outcome that is the true test of any renovation. And to this end, we couldn’t be happier. The kitchen is a dream and we love the looks, the functionality and how all the various elements work so well together. Plus our master bath is a delight and the kids love their bathroom as well. We cannot wait to use the deck next summer.

So, in conclusion Dave, thank you and everyone who worked on the project. I suppose the key question with any service provider is: “would you use them again?” We would and we will! Please feel free to use us as a reference. We are happy to recommend MDL’s services any time.

Renovating a kitchen and bathroom is not the most fun a person can sign up for. We are happy to recommend MDL Designs to anyone who is considering undertaking such a project.
